| Ahoy! |
Teddy is like a sea monkey, those funny little things we saved up our money for in the back of comic books; he is literally growing up before my eyes. People tell me he looks like a little man, but to me, he is that same little baby that would cuddle up and let me love on him all day long. And this little man has now discovered the world and loves it all.

I have decided that I want to come back as Teddy in my next life; he is making the most of everything and loving it all. Annapolis is a great little city and we visit there every so often to see Adrian's college roommate Jason and his wife Michelle, who Teddy loves. This time we decided to try out the Pirate Adventure boat on the Bay. (Teddy is into pirates; really into them, we MUST read at least one pirate book every night and play with his pirate toys.
See Pirate Party in Jonesville.) To say he loved it was an understatement. This kid got so into it and being the helicopter parents that we are, we of course indulged his every whim on it. We all got our Pirate Paint, bought spy glasses, pirate water guns, pirate cutlasses, treasure boxes and all kinds of other things (at this point I am going to point out that we had to have at least two of everything, and I will give you a hint, the other one was not for me). Teddy was the youngest on the boat by about 3 years or so and lucky for us one of the First Mates took him under her wing. He was right there in the middle of it all, on the lookout for Nasty Pirate Pete, the treasure chest, Mermaids and all. They taught them to look for the buoys as Mermaid, and he would yell out "I See Something, I See Something" EVERY SINGLE TIME he saw a buoy in Annapolis. It was pretty darn cute.

Then they had the pirate jig and Teddy was breaking that down and clapping and just really into it. I loved watching it because that was pure joy and my entire goal is to make memories for him that he can look back on and enjoy!
Teddy's mind was racing that week because his second love to pirates would be fire engines and ambulances. He points them out any time he sees them (which is, sadly, often up here and we pass the hospital on our way to his school and EVERY SINGLE DAY we count the ambulances at the hospital; if there are none, then we say "Every body's okay today") and wants to know "how it works," which in Teddy-speak is asking "what is happening?" (I feel he has the mind of an engineer trying to always ask how it works, which does not compute to this right-brained momma.) We support a local charity and bought dinner with the Alexandria Fire Chief in their annual silent auction. (As a side note, Adrian was also pretty excited about this trip and called it almost as soon as we won it.) Teddy got to invite Jesse and Alexander (this became a big and little boy party) to come with him to see the Fire Chief. They got to be in the trucks, received their very own hats and had a tour of the station. This kid lives a good life and I am so happy I can watch it all and be part!
