Apparently its not just my imagination anymore because literally almost everyone I know had boys in the past 18 months. It is unbelievable; I think I counted something like 16 or 17 boys in this time period to 2 girls, which means either my friends operate in a statistical anomaly or the world needed more boys for some reason. I am actually excited because that means that there will be lots of hand-me-downs, easy birthday plans to recreate, and lots of advice from mothers in the know.
Now that we know Baby Azer is a boy, I am in full planning mode. Adrian and I made a cursory stop at Babies R Us on Saturday--so overwhelming. It's even worse when the 20 year old, never been married, no kids store clerk knows more about strollers and cribs than we did combined. Adrian keeps marvelling at all the choices and I am just trying to find something that will not clash with my sense of taste (I know, I am vain). And it has become apparent that even corporate America favors the girls because all of the strollers for girls are way cuter and have better patterns than the boy strollers. My Mom likes to remind me that she had limited options, but one would think that some company would get with it and make affordable and stylish options (seriously, I am not paying over a grand for a stroller, that is just nuts, and I am sure we will break it anyway).
The baby bump is in full out mode and I can no longer see my toes without leaning forward. It happens so quickly and I am amazed at how fast the body changes to accommodate a growing baby. Now that I want to eat everything in site, my poor tummy is starting to be crushed so I can only eat a little at a time, which is no fun (I only make an exception for cake and queso). But I do LOVE the maternity clothes--elastic is the best thing since refrigeration in my book. They are so comfortable and my Mom has purchased some really cute things for me to feel less frumpy.
We are on to the naming front and are trying to think of names that the other will not veto (each of us has a veto right over a name). Honestly, I now understand those people who just pick a name out of a random book...suggestions welcome!
