See Teddy as Compared to Mom and Dad

Here are some photos of Adrian and me as babies. See who you think he looks like....I am pretty sure I know the answer. (I just pray he keeps the blue eyes like his Momma!)

Here is another slide show of some more recent photos of Teddy with his extended family and friends!

Teddy is here! (Photos included)

Here are the long awaited photos of Teddy. He is an angel and has been a perfect baby (all 4 days of his life, but who is counting).

HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO BROUGHT FOOD, GAVE LOVE AND SUPPORT, SENT EMAILS, ETC. I cannot tell you how each one touched my heart and made this such an amazing experience that I will never forget.

Whopper

I had the sonogram today and they were training a new stenographer. I had a feeling that when she gasped and said out loud something to the effect of "that is a huge baby" that I was in for it. Turns out the estimate him to be at 9lbs. 70z. today...almost Momma sized. (He may exceed me at this rate and I was 2 weeks late; I don't want to think about how big he would be if they made me wait until next week....scary...I am carrying a pre-schooler instead of a baby.) So the long and short of it is that we are evicting him via a scheduled c-section on Thursday, August 27th at 11:30 am. His tummy is so big that the computer gave him the OOR (out of range) and would not even estimate how big the abdominal region is at this point (which is why we are having a c in the end--his tummy probably would not have fit).

Keep us in your prayers and we will update the blog with official stats on Thursday! Big thank you for all the calls, notes, emails, FB posts--they are really keeping my spirits up. I have been slow to reply because I am so tired but know that I appreciate each and every one of them!

Still Pregnant

Well, the doctor said I am still pregnant today. I was hoping that she would give me better news (she asked if I would cry if she told me that I would be pregnant longer (i.e. no real good news to report), I told her no, but I got teary eyed anyway...hormones). Apparently, he can still come at any time but for some reason he is holding out (Already stubborn or is it just that my uterus is that amazing? I think the former and not the latter.). He better be a little angel because this is certainly going to be held over his head for a while. My blood pressure was a little higher than she would have liked, even though I am basically on bed rest, attributable to the heat and his size.

I am having another sonogram on Tuesday to see just how big he is and the doctor said I may have to have a c-section, despite my best efforts to avoid one, depending on what they see (i.e. is this child as big as they think he is...let's hope he is just big enough to sleep...is that too much to ask after all of this?). At 38 weeks he was almost 8 lbs, and 3 weeks later, I am scared that he could be approaching Momma size...9lbs. 12oz. is the record to beat so far. Hopefully, he is a little smaller and we can avoid a c-section, but I will just have to wait and see.

Keep us in your prayers. I am having vivid dreams (or are they nightmares? Sleep is not coming easy, so its hard to tell the difference.) of going into labor, so I hope that I prove to be clairvoyant! This time next week, we will have a baby no matter what and that is what I am focusing on at this point. (Read: One more week, one more week, that is all, one more week.)

Officially Overdue

So today was supposed to be the day for Baby Azer's arrival, but he has decided to be fashionably late. (Good thing he has an eviction date already set up or who knows when he would arrive.) Maybe it was a blessing he did not come today because his Daddy spent the day in NYC, which would not have been very convenient. Now it really could be any day and I am have been walking around as much as I can stand it in the heat. People get fearful when they see me because I must look like I am about to pop and if they are near they will be caught in the blast. Someone asked me today when I was due and when I said today, she literally backed away, as if I might have the baby right then and there on her shoes or something--hilarious.

Now I am just growing impatient but getting so sleepy all day that it feels like I am in Egypt again and I have to constantly nap or I am a zombie. Everything is set for the baby, all he has to do is decide to come on out and join the party. (Do you think he is mad about being born in August? I have this new theory that he is angry that his future birthday parties may not be well attended or something and, therefore, he is trying to hold out for a September birthday, which I have blocked with his eviction date of August 27th.) We are all anxious and just waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Hopefully, he makes some progress, because I am seriously considering the wives tales I have been reading about to induce labor. (People, it's hot and I am tired and huge; I will try anything at this point.)

Keep us in your prayers! Big congratulations to Wendy and John on the birth of their son William! (I am also officially the last person I know pregnant and jealous that everyone I knew who was due right after me has already given birth.)

Working...From Home

The doctor pulled the plug and has put me on a work from home reduced schedule. Apparently, working until the baby is born in August in DC with a large baby is not the best idea for all concerned. So here I am, working from home until Baby Azer decides to come on his own or be forced out. Momma finished her exams, which is great, but my life has to be complicated and Adrian is travelling back and forth to NYC for work. Let's just pray that I have some advance warning or I will be at Sibley with the nurses having a baby. (And people keep telling me stories about how they were like me, no progress, no progress, then boom and they almost had the baby in the car. That would be my luck, not that I will complain, but I will feel bad for Adrian.)

In case I have not said so, it has been great to receive the emails, FB posts, etc from everyone. At this point, I need the assistance in the motivation department to wait this out. (I can also see why people just opt for planned c's because it takes the guess work out.)

All in all I cannot complain now; being at home does help with the swelling and I am able to dress more comfortably for this stage in pregnancy, which is great. I am jealous that I am the last person pregnant in the due date range, as Wendy is now being induced on Monday (big prayers her way for their little guy, we are so excited to meet him as well!). Baby Azer better be a little angel for making me wait through all of this...Nanny said that I was a good baby, but given that Adrian is in the mix, I fear I am in for it no matter what.

We will keep everyone updated and will post photos on this site once he is here. The countdown is on.....

There is a light at the end of the tunnel

Well, it appears that no matter what Baby Azer wants, he is coming to this world by August 27th. The sonogram that we had this week confirmed that he is a larger baby at almost 8lbs (he is probably the biggest Azer baby ever but he's not got anything on me, I was 9lbs, 12oz.) and the doctor suggested planning an induction date in case he does not come on time. We picked August 27th to give family time to travel up here and get a weekend (okay, if I am being honest, it was also influenced by the fact that I am not a fan of the doctor on call on the 28th). I keep trying to convince him that he can come earlier but he just loves it in there being all curled up and poking out and starting to hurt his mama with his sharp limbs. We are super excited to have the endpoint decided and just praying that all goes well. Adrian has to travel to NYC several times over the next week, so let's pray that he does not come during that period--what a disaster. Between my mom taking her exams and Adrian in NYC, I just pray he waits until that is over but if you see me calling you repeatedly in the next week, you will know something is up....

I cannot believe that it has been almost 10 months of pregnancy. It really does go by quickly. We had some friends (Shaun, Maryellen and Mason) over last night who just moved back to DC and their son is 5 months right now. It's going to be so fun to watch all of these little boys grow up together just like their daddies. Now, someone needs to start having girls so we know who our little men are hitting on at playdates. (It really does seem strange that everyone is having a boy, except for a few people we know!)

Big congrats to Wags on her son and Amy Carter Cox on her son! (Playdates will have to be long-term plans.)
